Wet saw problem
Recently, ive started having a problem with my Rubi ND180. On any of the longer cuts im doing, it starts to veer off centre until the tile gets stuck between the blade and the guide - has anyone else had this problem?
Im hoping its just a symptom of the blade being warped (its quite old now) - is this possible?
Any ideas welcome.
thanks

Re: Wet saw problem
i think your blade is cutting off square causing it to jamb

Re: Wet saw problem
what tiles are you trying to cut...........to be fair the nd180 is still more of a D.I.Y cutter and will stuggle with large pors you may have bent the spindle, i would start with changeing the blade and go from there

Re: Wet saw problem
Do you have the guard attached ? Is the piece of metal holding the guard bent ? sounds like its not inline with the blade.
It could also be the marker guide is not set parallel with the cutting wheel and therefore causing a jamb.
If its the wheel it self then just hold a pencil to the wheel and turn the wheel by hand. You will then see how much it is out.

Re: Wet saw problem
Yea I had this problem a while back and it was down to the blade being warped, changed it for a new one and it was fine cutting nice and straight again.

Re: Wet saw problem
place a full tile in cutter so edge just touches the blade then run full length of tile if it gets tighter something is out could be guide could be blade (with machine turned off)

Re: Wet saw problem
When cutting large format tiles on a flat bed then if insufficient water is getting to the blade then it will heat up and in turn will bend as you cut.. the blade must be kept cool to cut in a straight line..
You can get blades that are suitable for wet and dry cut and if the blade you have is the original blade then up grade to a better blade..

Yes, it is the original blade - any recommendations on which one to upgrade to?
Thanks to everyone else for their input as well..

Re: Wet saw problem
A Marcrist CK850 wheel would be my 1st choice. Some say different and say the Marcrist wheel can chip tiles but I have never had that issue myself.

Re: Wet saw problem
May be of value to know, but the cause turned out to be the blade being warped - i swapped it out and now it works fine. Interestingly, you cant actually see anything wrong with the blade i took out which proves that there can be something wrong even if you cant see it

Re: Wet saw problem
Thanks for the update!
Even a 1000th of an inch warp could cause issues when it's running at such high RPM. So that makes sense.

Re: Wet saw problem
Another symptom of a warped blade is that is doesnt draw a lot of water, so worth watching out for..
