Anyone know the technical name for these (been googling, but not sure of the correct name).
Even better, any links to suppliers?
I'm thinking some kind of mini telescopic pole (similar to the ones used for lasers)
Any ideas?

You can use long woodworkers clamps like these. Buy Axminster Bar Clamp/Spreader from Axminster, fast delivery for the UK
Or plasterboard support prop - Google Product Search

I would have said that you need a telescopic support but no idea what else you would search for.
I trowel the window head and backskim the tile and it stays where I place it so no need for supports. Are you using the right adhesives and / or getting good contact?

Hadn't thought of the bar clamps, good idea
I had seen the Tyzak supports, but they start at 1.1m, which is a bit too big.
Regarding adhesive, to be honest I've never had a tile drop yet, but there's always that little bit of doubt with the bigger tiles.
Also, I just want some new toys
Thanks for the fast response![]()

Didn't someone post a pic of 'stair rods' being used for supports the other week.

Another good idea, I have a set of stair rods![]()

I always hang em too, a few times on stone i'd use two pieces of 2x1 supporting a piece horizontal under the tiles.

cut some batons,or buy some nanolite for tricky windows

Aldi do them for £6 each, they do have a tendancy to break the handles though if you are too rough with them. For the purpose you want them for they should last years.

Hang them and use a baton just in case on bigger tiles, otherwise I just hang them.

a couple of scraps of timber cut to length will do the job, I've done this when I've forgotten my props

I have had one fall off onto a banrd new vanity top that i had fitted. Put a huge dent in it.

nail them
Always do my homework and use the correct adhesive and never had a tile drop yet.
The reason I asked was that I was doing a window head last week that was directly over a jacuzzi bath which cost the client £2500.
I just couldn't help thinking...what if a tile dropped

funny the things we use ,i all ways use a telescopic painters sanding poll with a piece of timber cut to the length of the window head
works well for me ,hope this helps
be good at 1 thing ,not average at lots
i use a bit of baton.

These work for me.prop.jpg
