Thought my Dewalt dw2400 would perform better than this !!
Currently doing a 77m marble job, the tiles are 20mm thick, the cutter has a brand new blade on it and its not cutting too well, it struggles to go through these tiles, very time consuming things to cut, the problem maybe a 10m extensaion lead, there are no plugs nearby and possibly a loss of power from it ??
Any thoughts ?
Cheers Tubs

To be fair Marble is normally quite soft isn't it? All the Marble I've worked with (and yeah, unlike all these mad stones these days marble was used quite a bit when I was tiling! lol) cut with even an old crappy blade on a crappy machine.

I find that soft stone is quite often the slowest to cut through if that makes sense.

I did a marble job earlier this year and had no trouble at all.

Re: Thought my Dewalt dw2400 would perform better than this !!
Is it a case of getting to much water onto the cutting area and the dust and water clogging the wheel slowing the cutting process, would have thought that was a long shot with the power though.

Re: Thought my Dewalt dw2400 would perform better than this !!
Some marbles are dense and not easy to cut, hence why i said the other day that the DNA blade comes into it's own on stone tiles and being thick tiles it will take effort..
It is not the machine but the blade IMO..

As a guide, I had no trouble cutting 20mm deep limestone the other week with the standard blade that comes with the D24000.
Are you just expecting too much from the standard blade?

I'm currently cutting 12mm polished marble on my sigma 10M, my blade is wearing thin now and in two weeks time i have 90m2 of 600x600x20mm polished marble to lay so a new blade this week for sure i think (£120+vat for the genuine sigma blade).

looking at the you tube videos of the sigma 10m its looks like its one of the best wet cutters i have seen is it in the same price bracket as the dewalt ?

tubs,
its worth mentioning that theres 2 porcelain dewalt blades out there..
the new upgraded version has little curves cut out of the edge of the blade. they look like fancy questions marks.
the old one didnt, just plain...
the new blades were put on the mark 2 models but there are still loads of retailers selling the old blades..have a quick check because the old version ones were not very good

Hello Gary,
the 10M is a good bit more expensive than the dewalt !
I paid £1300 or so for mine 4 years ago,it has never put a foot wrong.
A very heavy duty machine and a 3hp motor so no slow down at all.
Mine is still in real good condition too,it comes with the red stand too.
60 odd kgs so very sturdy. I can't fault it at all.
I know 4 other tilers with them and one has the smaller version but he never washed it down after every use so it's rough looking now,lol.5 years old his is but ione of the guys i know has an old one, must be 10 or more years old.
Price around and try Diatech for a price too.

This topic has been discussed and TBH I am now of the opinion you need a minimum of two blades.
The Dewalt is a fantastic blade when used for fine cuts and edges.
When cutting thicker materials, it is not as good as the Monolit styled blade.
As Captain slow stated, you can expect too much from one blade.
The Dewalt machine is brilliant.
Experience is not years of doing a job, it's mistakes you have made and what you learned.
