special saw
Am I imagining it or did I see some time ago on here a special saw designed so you can cut the bottom off the door without removing it so that you can then tile underneath the door.
Assuming I did not imagine this can the same saw be used to cut the bottom off the skirtings so that I can slot the tiles underneath them.

Re: special saw
You have to watch the electric socket cables and whatever pipes get hidden behind them!

Re: special saw

If at all possible I would remove the skirtings carefully and refit. Remember they willl go back on slightly higher than before hiding any damage where you've prised them off.
There is another machine for doors etc but its about £500

thanks sandy. Want to avoid at all costs removing the skirtings. Old victorian house. 10" skirtings into lime plaster. Been there before and just know I will end up having to replace them cos they never come off easily. Would be cheaper to buy a saw than replace the boards so that is the option I want to look at first.

Re: special saw
What sort of lengths of skirting do you have to cut ? Could be possible with a Fein cuttter and a suitable guide.

Re: special saw
If the floorboards are reasonable you could fix strips of 12mm ply along the boards to give the saw a straight level track to run along as any saw relies on this for a level cut.
This saw looks a bit more sustantial
