    Default D24000 tip...

Been a touch concerned when doing hard porcelain work with my DeWalt as the corners have been snipping off about 10 to 30mm towards the end of a cut

Anyway had a wet room shower tray to tile with procelain 300x300's today, obviously with some pretty precise envelope cutting to do and I really didn't want to be spoiling 1 in every 3 cuts

So I had a bit play about with my DeWalt on some offcuts

It now seems that I had the cutting depth set too high

After one or two tries I sussed out that the cutting wheel needed to be dropped further below the surface of the rubber cutting bed I had previously had it set approx. 1mm below the surface so that in effect the bottom of the wheel was doing the cutting.

Today I set the blade lower by approx. 10mm so that the leading edge of the wheel was cutting into the tile and 'hey presto'

Perfect cutting every time, not one snip all day

I had cleaned my machine one day and then started cutting some travertine with it. I forgot i had adjusted the wheel height and as i started a cut, instead of cutting through it cut half the depth and then grabbed the tile and the whole moveable tray shot out my hands, The travertine tile exploded into bits.
Good tip to always make sure you are cutting right through the tile.

Am I the only one who has cut a groove in the metal at the front of the moveable tray?

And the non slip cutting table

    And the directional water jets

    And the built in RDC

And the super easy 45degree stop guage

And the lack of water loss

    etc,etc,etc........

I have one critisism of the D24000 (it's a small one). Don't you wish the bung in the water tray was nearer the edge or in the corner. I find it a pain to drain most of the water thro the bung then replace the bung then lift the tray to pour the last of the water over the corner. Am I doing it wrong?

Hardly worth worrying over. When i am cleaning up I remove the machine from the tray and then the plug and use a sponge to push all water and sediment through the plug hole.

    Sandy,

My DeWalt is one of the first made, so it is a bit old by now. I haven't studied the new ones to see if anything has been changed since I got mine. THe only thing that I had real problems with was the GFCI block on the cord. I replaced it several times and ended up eliminated it altogether. My Sparky made a nice GFCI 4-way for us to use, and I always plug the saw into that.
