Default Rubi TS40+ cutting off square...

    Morning all,

I've had my TS40+ just over 12months now but since before Xmas it's started cutting off by about 3 or 4mm

Never had this problem with my old bog standard TS's

I contacted Rubi when it first started happening - waste of time

Anyone got any ideas on what it might be or how to sort out the problem?

There is a chance you need to renew the cutting tip, it may just be pulling to the side. Are you using a wheel?

I had the same prob with my ts50+.. new cutting wheel (stem) and it is fine... i have moved up to the 8mm wheel instead of 6mm and the wheel spindle last longer.

I saw a rubi rep checking rubi cutters for squareness at a show once he put a square up against the stop bar and ran the wheel up beside it to check. if they were running out he loosened the stop bar fixings screws adjusted and retightened until they were square again hope this makes sence and helps...

That's what I suggested doing to the Rubi man I spoke to and he said there was 'no way in a million years that the stop bar would go out of square as it was machine engineered square with the bolt holes...'

I think if a new ten quid cutting wheel resolves the prob, I'll be over the moon

OK, replaced my cutting wheel last week - no difference at all

Anyway, I was waiting for a decision about border height from the architect today and decided to give my TS40+ a good overhaul

I stripped it all to bits and gave all parts a good clean and spray with silicone spray

Marked a 300x300 tile with a square line straight down the middle and proceeded to align my rails with the line on the tile which I set hard back against the still loose stop bar.

Once I was happy that the cutting wheel was square with the line and the stop bar, I tightened all the hex bolts up

Hey presto - one perfectly square cutting TS40+ again

    How happy am I???

The muck and grime that came off the separate parts was incredibleYou really think you're looking after your tools well until you take them to bits

    Oh yes, proper result

I msu admit one or two of the bolts did seem to be a lot looser than they should have been

I will definately be keeping an eye on it in the future.....
