A whisk...?..ok for whipping cream and yorkshire puds..

I presume you mean a paddle mixer..using the correct machine which operates at a low speed then it mixes just fine and not too much air entrapment...mine is variable speed as well.

I use a Makita SDS 800W variable speed with a chuck adaptor attached to a paddle. I was using my Bosch drill but i also worried that it might burn it out. I think you need less than 300rpm to not put air in. I am going to buy a Rubi or Sparky mixer – cant go getting my poor Makita dirty can I.
Do like the looks of that Rafina - i dont know about them but it looks really solid to me - i will price one up, if acres of swimming pools cant kill it thats a good advert.

Topps tiles mixer for me. I'm now on my 3rd drill (have only used an electric mixer on 3 jobs!). First one mixed 18 buckets of SLC then packed up. I broke the paddle on number 2 by hitting it with a hammer to clean it. Topps exchanged it for mixer no.3.

How to you clean your paddles?

    Cheers

Have a bucket of water near by, mine is a tall plastering bucket, give it a spin and its clean, sometimes leave it to soak in concrete cleaner overnight.
I have had my drill for 6 years, 110 volt which cost £170 when new. Still going strong.

refina make the best mixing drills in the world bar none! you will pay more but you will get 20 plus years out of them if you look after them..

they mix 3 bags of backing plasters at a time no problem!, sand and cement, you name it, they'll cope with it...the mm30 is excellent
