Marking darker tiles
Hi, I am wondering if anyone can help me.
When I need to cut a tile using a wet cutter, I draw the line(s) using a normal felt tip really. But the second I put it in front of a wet cutter, you can probably guess what happens. That line vanishes in a split second.
Is there a special pen or anything that I can use?
Please help, thanks!

Re: Marking darker tiles
Try a china marker or a crayon, the water will not wash your marks away.

Re: Marking darker tiles
As above. I use a pencil or biro, Make sure the line is as thin as can be to get a tight cut and cut on the relevant side of the line, not just down the middle.

Re: Marking darker tiles
I often score the tile first with a dry cutter.......then run a pencil down the line.

Re: Marking darker tiles
I sometimes score the stone with the manual cutter as cj does above but i use a light coloured china marker from tradetiler..the wax leaves a mark along the edge of the score which doesnt get washed away.

I am very greatful for all your replies.
This china marker looks like just the thing I need, and tradetiler.com looks like a very useful website.
Thank you.

Re: Marking darker tiles
Another good trick is to mark both ends of the tile and then use masking tape as a line, then just cut down the tape - works a treat!

That would take a long time, why use masking tape when you can use a pencil?

Seriously? It takes me a maximum of five seconds to run a length of masking tape accross a tile!
I suggested it in case a pencil mark didnt show up. Ive done a lot of dark polished porcelain tiles were you cant see a pencil mark and masking tape works a treat.
Its just another method in case you cant see a pencil / pen mark.

Re: Marking darker tiles
White pencil from TT mate - thats the easiest way and it doesn't wash off if you use a wet cutter

Re: Marking darker tiles
White Chingraph pencil. If you can't wipe it off easy use nail polish remover - or acetone if you can get hold of it.....
you must all buy this song from any good download site for just 79p. Proceeds to Blesma, RAFA and RAFBF charities
