Just to let you know Screwfix have launched diamond cores (but without our guide plate)

[Catalogue 88] Examples are here
Their total seperate selling price for 2x6mm 2x8mm 1x16mm 1x30mm 1x40mm is
£120.43 plus pp

Total Screwfix Direct selling price is £120.43 to equal our BFKMX

The upshot here is that 365Drills are far too cheap.

As a matter of urgency we will be reviewing our prices.

We are recosidering our price and it may raise to £59.99 (Half the price) which is a price raise of £20 from £49.99

Why havent we done it already?
1) Because we wanted to see what Screwfix did with this.
2) Because we are just revamping our website for trade sales
3) Because I am going on holiday for September!

I would appreciate any forum input on this from you guys. Should the BFKMX be £59.99 ?

Should I sell single drills ? IE the 8mm for £9.99 each instead of £29.99 for four drills.

Should I sell the drill plates seperate? Or do I need to be better, quicker cheaper, nicer than Screwfix?

My advice is if you want a bargain kit then get it while you still can at £39.99 which is now looking WAY too cheap compared to £120. When I return from my hols then its a price revamp for winter...

GET THEM HERE!

Hope this is a bit tongue in cheek! It will be very sad if you think it is OK to put up your prices because someone else is selling the same thing (or similar) at a higher price. Surely if they were the same as yours, with appropriate marketing then people would buy from you instead of Screwfix as you are way cheaper - market forces and all that.

I have bought a number of your products and think they are good value, they become less good value if you almost double your price. I am a very brand loyal person but this sort of comment can bring loyalty issues into question. Not only that you are immediately pushing up the costs of your customers, to pass on to their customers, and thereby potentially effecting your customers business too!

Yes very fair comments Grumpygrouter. The initial knee-jerk on seeing the SFD catalogue was to raise our prices to match theirs.

I cant really see our BFKMX selling for the SFD £120 so maybe that's is just a bit silly.

We do have a superb product and it has to be a price that is just as superb. We wont rip people off.

Also what about the idea of splitting up the packs and selling them as single drills only but for a higher price.

So £9.99 for a single 8mm instead of £29.99 for a pack of four. Or should we hold fast with our own way of doing things in packs? I only ask these questions because I dont have all the answers myself. I thought selling 8mm in a 4pack for £29.99 was the smart idea. Maybe not.

Thanks for the reponse Richard. I have bought multipacks in the past as I am sure when drilling stone/porcelain that the drills don't last forever. Indeed the ones I have used so far mainly 4 and 8mm are now starting to look a little tired, though still cut ok at the moment. I would have thought that to sell individually with appropriate packaging would make them cosiderably more expensive and you would probably not be far away with your suggested price.

It will be interesting to see what other potential purchasers think, but I am more than happy to buy 4 at a time in a pack as it is more cost effective for me that way. The larger sizes (16mm upwards) could quite possibly be sold effectively on a singular basis, indeed, I will be purchasing a foul waste size drill from you shortly.

You have a good product and hopefully you will receive good constructive feedback from your client base on here to aid with your decision making.

Regards

Interesting!

Maybe think about a club together for the Forum to buy in bulk, saves on per unit shipping costs.
