I'm useless with plumb bobs and snap strings - they always end up like spaghetti in my tool kit and get slung out! - cheap laser better for messy me.

never bother, my cousin uses them , for when he's hanging paper! I do use a chalk line/snap string tho, ideal for marking floor

I not used one for years. Used to though for building walls and to mark pipe entry points on floors.

Same with me Dom. I have Grandpa's old plumb bob and used to use it a lot, but now with the lasers it has gotten stored out in the shop and never gets used.

We could start a thread about old tools we have from Grandpa and see what everyone still has.

The oldest tool I have is a handsaw with teeth spaced for ripping lumber. It is a Disston and it was my great-grandfathers, circa ~~1900. I had it sharpend the other day and it still cuts like a champ.

Can you have a brass plumb bob?

    Boring fact of the day:

Plumb Bob - Etymology "plumb" - from the Latin Plumbum - meaning Lead.

… and Bob from the nickname given to a Mr Robert the Constructor. World famous for wearing a yellow hat and having a curios habit of dangling old fishing weights on the end of a piece of string in order knock out fish in the local village pond.
(dead floating fish on the surface of a pond are to this day commonly referred to as having been ‘plumb bobbed’)
