Oscillation (Multi-)Tools?!? Are they worth it?
Have been pondering on buying a Fein multimaster as an addition to my own tool kit after leaving my previous employer. having done a bit of research (mainly on websites trying to sell the product) i found that fein had the patent for this technology, but it ran out a year or so ago! since then there has been an influx of other branded oscillation tools on the market. i was just wondering if anyone out there has bought one, what make it was and if they do exactly what it says on the tin?
cheers in advance for any help.

Explains that bit then!
I have one and is a priceless bit of kit. Fein blades are pricey which spoil the whole package, but Bosch ones (blades)are not too bad price wise.

I have one too and is the most used tool in my box. Invaluable tool for all sorts of jobs. The Fein blades are expensive but if you look on ebay you can buy an adaptor which allows it to accept bosch blades (cheaper).
There are two versions now I think, the multimaster and a newer, supercut, which has more power. I've found the multimaster ample

Re: Oscillation (Multi-)Tools?!? Are they worth it?
thanks for the reply guys. watched the video on trade tiler, looks like it'd be worth the money just for the grout removal aspect! seriously considering one. fortnight ago raked out downstairs bathroom took me two days!!
is there any other ways you use it for other than shown on the video? can it be use as a hand saw to cut likes of ply? or would it be best to use a jig saw?
think with Fein having had the techology for so long they'll probably be ahead of any other manufacturer. i know there's a bosh cordless one out, but think the cordless might not have enough power. sure i seen it in the argos catalogue. lol.

Re: Oscillation (Multi-)Tools?!? Are they worth it?
Think its best for plunge cutting rather than cutting a long line, although I've cut sections out of ply before by just plunging it along the line I wanted to cut. Good for plunge cutting into plasterboard for sockets etc.
Mine has a scraper also which is great at getting old adhesive off walls. I've used the same blade to cut through wood, metal, an acrylic shower tray, all without problems.

Re: Oscillation (Multi-)Tools?!? Are they worth it?
I dont rate the multimaster for anything other than raking grout out of joints, the blades for cutting architracve down/up dont last 5 minutes and are far too pricey, the best way to descride it is a handy tool for certain jobs but its well over priced and well over rated rating out of 10 would be 5

Comes in handy at times but don't use a great deal

Aldi this week, 40 quid, bosch compatible and 3yr guarantee. Bought one myself, seems as good as the bosch at least
