Re: i need a cheap wet bed cutter
Buy the best one you can afford and make sure it can cut the tiles you need to use.
A Norton clipper is only £200-00ish

Re: i need a cheap wet bed cutter
I use a Vitrex Expert 500 Plus Wet Tile Saw. Got it about a year ago from Topps. Like you, had to keep within a small budget, so got the middle range one - cost about £60 I think. There are three in the range, the top one costing around £100 at the time. The Vitrex has certainly done the job. I've used it for ceramics, glazed and unglazed tiles and Victorian clay tiles.
The only downsides are that you get wet through as it throws water up from under the wheel and it comes with a snap-on fence which is fiddly to position.
Nonetheless, cheap and cheerful and does the job.

turn it round and pull the tiles through, then the water goes away from you.

Re: i need a cheap wet bed cutter
Was using it as described so that the guard gives me some protection from the flying bits. Might ditch the guard and give your suggestion a try though. I must learn to think outside the box ...

Re: i need a cheap wet bed cutter
Just had the Norton Clipper TT200EM delivered a couple of days ago - haven't used it yet but looks a good quality piece of kit.
Cost a fraction under £130 (incl delivery), comes with 2 diamond blades, has a strudy carry case with it, and the bed looks a decent size for larger format tiles. 800w motor too
Plus, I've checked and the guard can be removed allowing plunge cutting

Re: i need a cheap wet bed cutter
might be too late, but i bought the 750w vitrex wet cutter from bnq for £100.00 about a week ago. done my flat ( bathroom, en suite, kitchen and bedroom with porcelain. 300x300 and 600x600 and worked really well. the cuts were brilliant. the only downside is that the screws that hold the gaurd down get in the way when you push the tile through so when it gets to the end of the gaurd u have to lift the tile over the screws and carry on which leaves the tile unsuported and sometimes snaps just about when u finished cutting the tile. and having to cut the little bit off that snapped.
but you can work around it and done the job for me.
although you will need a new blade fairly quick as mine went just as i finished luckily.
