Help for must have tools please.
Hi everyone,
I'm doing a tiling course in 3 weeks and would like to start buying some tools now ready for when i finish the course. I won't be buying a tile cutter until i've tried a few on the course, however, i'd like some advice on what 'must have' tools i will need as i'd rather buy some now instead of having to fork out lots in one go. Could you give me a few suggestions of tools and possibly brands to go for? Also, maybe the best place to buy them.
Thanks to all in advance,
Rich

Re: Help for must have tools please.
Check out Tradetiler Tilers Starter Tool List this will be a good guide, wait also until you do your course it may give you ideas what you may need. I've bought tools that seemed a good idea at the time and have been a waste of time, take your time buy good stuff.

Re: Help for must have tools please.
With all due respect, wait until you've done the course, you may find it's not to your liking or that you may not feel up to the job, what then if you've spent good money on tools you won't use. Save any monies that you have spare, do the course, then if you feel it's right, check out Trade Tilers site.

I have just completed my course at the Harlow site and I will advise to wait and see what tools they offer you because if it's the same as Harlow then they have really competitive prices like Stabila levels 13-14 quid, lax 50 laser level £89 and Rubi tr-600s £210. So take your time and enjoy the course, 1st week is a brain overload but good fun.

Thanks mate, its a lot of money to fork out so i'm hoping the course is worth it. Did you do 2 or 4 weeks? Is it worth the money?

If your really going to be serious in taking it up full time then yes it is worth it but imo I wouldn't call myself a professional tiler after a 4 week course, yes if you take your time set yourself a good standard by the time you have finished the course then I can't see why you can't earn a living from it. I did the 4 week course and the thing you really need to get right is your setting out, get that right and the rest comes easier.I have a number of jobs lined up for people I know and when I went to give them a quote they didn't realise there was so much prep work before you start tiling.
