Hi everyone,
I have just been cuting some ceramic tiles with a Rubi ND 180 BL wet cutter. The cuttter is brand new and I have only cut abot 10 tiles.
However, when I cut a tile more often tha nnot the corner splinters off at the end of the cut. (Always on the side that I want to keep!).
Is there a an easy way to prevent this, or will grout cover up the problem?
Kind regards
Chris

this tends to happen when you are pushing the tile through to fast or not supporting both sides when you come to the end of the cut,i tend to slow down as i reach the last part of the tile and hold the tile as steady as i can

Just do a small cut with the wet cutter at the other end of the tile, just as your ending the long cut through the tile. Do you have a dry cutter for the ceramics

Hi Whitebeam,
I only have a wet cutter, (as my wall tiles are marble).
When you say perform a small cut at the other side do you mean turn the tile round an cut from the opposite direction?
Regards
Chris

Yes mate, just a small one, thought you cutting ceramic as mentioned in your first post. Marble is a softer material

i agree with whitebeam, let the wheel do the cutting, dont push too hard and check that your wheel has plenty of bite left on it. replacement wheels can be bought for a few quid but they are usually an inferior quality, buy the best you can and you will be amazed at the difference

another way is to use a piece of off cut to push the last bit through, making sure the blade cuts into the offcut, this should stop the corners pinging off
