Default Best Tile Cutter for Marble Tiles

    Hi everyone,

I need to buy a tile cutter to cut my tiles in the bathroom. The wall tiles are 10mm marble and the floor tiles are ceramic.

Can someone advise me of a good quality, easy to use tile cutter for this job?

I read a review about the RUBI TX-700-N is this a good cutter for what I need?

This will be my first tiling job and so any advices are appreciated.

    Thanks

    Chris

You will find it difficult to cut marble with any rail cutter. Marble is a soft rock. Scoring marble doesn't have the same affect as scoring a glazed product. You will find that the marble just crumbles or breaks very unevenly when you try to snap it. An electric cutter is much better for marble

You need a wet cutter Chris, some marble might cut once or twice if your lucky, a wet cuter will do no problem, get a decent blade and your laughing, is it a one off job ? You might want to rent if it is and you don't want to be left with the cutter, having said that, for what it would cost to rent you could buy a cheapish mid range cutter for the same cost, and then have it for any future use.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks guys,

I don't expect this to be a one off job so would like to purchase something half decent that will last. Can you make any suggestions? The quality of the cuts is more important to me than getting a cheap cutter so i am not averse to paying good money for a good quality cutter.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Chris

Norton Clipper TT200EM will be perfectly adequate for what you want. Google it and you will find them for just over a hundred quid plus vat.

wow the dewalt 24000 looks like a real bad boy! unfortunately its a little out of my league.

How good is the Norton Clipper TT200EM? Are there any others for me to look at in £100 - £300 price bracket?

Also, can anyone tell me how difficult it is to cut tiles (Marble in particular) I will have approximately 80 tiles to cut and want to make sure I get a clean straight cut.

    Cheers

    Chris

Could we not all chip in and have a "forum owned" one? And use it on a time-share basis?
