Big Clinker £69
Hi all,
Just wondering if any of you have the big clinker tile cutter.I can get it at Topps now for £69,it looks really well made and robust, I thought it would be 200 odd quid when I first saw it.
I read different threads on it here in the past, but would like to know those that have it, if they are still using it,or slung it out the window.
Cheers.
Vinnie.

Re: Big Clinker £69
Hi Steve,
Yeah ive heard mixed reviews on it,supposed to cut through Porcelain like butter, but they say you have to bend right down to line up the cuts which can be a pain in time.
Will see and sum up what the others have to say.
Cheers.
Vinnie.

Re: Big Clinker £69
I've used one daily for the past 3 years and this week it is finally getting replaced. I would have got another except I have become a "tool snob" in the past 12 months.
I bought a Montolit minipiuma for a mosiac job and I love the breaking action, so I'm getting a Masterpiuma now for my bigger tiles.
The Clinker is a damn good cutter. It takes some getting used to, but if you've not been spoiled by real pro cutters yet, then I'd recommend getting one. For £69 you can't go wrong. My Topps has them in a case now too.
Two things: Turn the rails regularly so they don't tram-line the bearings, and make sure you set it on a flat surface or breaking can be impossible.

I was always a Rubi man myself. You can get replacement parts for Rubi's, though to be honest you never need to!
I found with lesser quality brands you'd be trying to get a part on it when it broke for weeks meaning you'd end up using another cutter anyway. Though I never used a clinker.

Re: Big Clinker £69
I have one and keep it as a spare. TJ was using it for a while, i bought a Husky.
Still not a bad cutter for the price, only bug is the breaker in the way of yer score line.
If thats all the money u have then it'll do you a good turn for a while, if graces dad has got 3 years worth outa his then it can't be bad.

It's still usable. Just the rubber mats are coming away and I can't bring myself to glue 'em back down!

Re: Big Clinker £69
use mine almost all the time now, anything from 600mm porcelain to 100mm amd it still cuts great, for that price you could get a new one every few years and still be cheaper than a rubi!

Re: Big Clinker £69
Have been using the big clinker for a few months now. I find it ideal for the big heavy tiles but tends to brake some of the smaller thinner tiles not a bad bit of kit for £69. Tend to use my Rubi for smaller more delicate tiles.

Re: Big Clinker £69
you can always adjust the height for thinner tiles, and if it's the really thin 4 or 6" whites then just use a cheapo cutter, used to have a sigma for years and don't think i'll ever go back to them although they are good machines!

Re: Big Clinker £69
I just took delivery of one. It was £65 (inc P&P) via ebay. Very impressed with the first trial cuts. No prblem with 600 x 300 porcelain tiles. Even on thin cuts. I am just using it for a DIY bathroom, so it feels like a great cutter for the price and should do the job nicely.

I was in Topps today as well, I asked to see one but they had none in stock, I ended up getting a Rubi TS50 from CTD for £109, didn't think that was too bad. My first Rubi.....aawwww

Re: Big Clinker £69
vin , save your money and get a sigma , you will get a simiar size as the clinker for about £180 and you will get a far superior cutter which will last a lifetime...
