rubi dw250 n probs
Iv treated my self to a rubi dw 250 n and have used it twice now, today how ever iv noticed a problem with it, the hole motor and blade assembly wobbles left to right and right to left a good 10mm, its fine when cutting a large cut but if you want to take a sliver off the blade starts cutting were i start but then pushes out to the edge of the tile, im really peaved about it, rubi want me to send it back so they can have a look.
anyone els had this prob??????

Re: rubi dw250 n probs
Yep I have similar problem, blade drifts over the length of the cut. Don't know if mine is a blade problem (marcrist) or not. I need to try with a standard rubi blade to see.

Re: rubi dw250 n probs
Only if it is not fit for purpose...you will find Rubi will want it back to try and fix it first. Really need to get mine sorted too!

Re: rubi dw250 n probs
Yep, had the same problem, damn thing wobbles around on the carriage too much. Appears to be an issue with the machine because I've heard of others in my area who've had the same hassle. I found it's alright on soft stone like travertine and marble but hopeless on super hard porcelain - deflects way off.
I hardly ever use it anyway, but I'm going to make my own modifications next time I'm cutting stone. Two other things hack me off about it: the location of the switch and that stupid cutting guide thingy.

Re: rubi dw250 n probs
Glad, i'm not the only one, bought one of these of ebay a couple of years ago, noticed it pulled between 5-10mm depending on the type of tile, seems to be the softer the tile the less it moves. always thought that it had been damaged by previous owner, Never been able to sort it, Agree with the other comments about useless guide, never used it and the on/off button is in a bad place. Using it on a travitine job at the mo, end up allowing for the movement by slightly angling the tile

Re: rubi dw250 n probs
I have one and noticed the same the very first time I used it but soon learned that you have to comensate for this.
I think that the tile moves a little also on the cutter bed when it is wet, I try to make sure that I give the cutter bed a good wipe down with a towel between each cut.
Also the faster you try to cut then the more the cut drifts so again I now cut at the speed that the cutter wants to go at and not the speed I would like to go at.
If you have any joy from RUBI please let us all know because I think they may well be flooded with calls from fellow members on the forum

Have been using the Dewalt for a few weeks, it is very good indeed
very accurate too as it is very rigid design
