    Default My First Cutter

    Good afternoon guys.

After tackling a few tiling projects at home and getting on OK with them, I took the plunge and a did a 2 week course. Very enjoyable and will be returning to do another 2 weeks later in the year - want to start up on my own doing a bit after years of working in offices and renovating houses at weekends. Right introductions over.

After doing the course I have been asked to do a few little jobs by friends and family (splashbacks and the like) nothing major but mainly to keep my hand in.

Right the question is: Limited budget (£150 or there abouts) - which cutter should I purchase? Trained on a Rubi TS50 and TR 400 and felt comfortable with each BUT as I am only going to be doing small stuff to start don't want to be filling the workshop (alright shed) up with big bits of kit.

    Your thoughts please?

Also, based near Heathrow Airport - if anyone needs a labourer to help out I am cheap and eager to keep learning! Cheers fellas

Go with the Rubi TS40 IMO, a good solid cutter, within your budget and built to last as more work comes.

I've got the husky TC670 too wivs, great cutter although i do find that the rails flex if you move too far away from the either end to use the breaker. Doug kindly gave me a TS40 which i use when i dont need those extra 27cm (ooh err).

Thanks chaps for your time, I was pretty sure that I would go for the Rubi TS40 but I have a few other options to look at now. Thanks (I think!)

First job in a couple of weeks so I better get my finger out and make a decision eh?

Thanks again and post again soon.

ive got the large genesis cutter..its good for ceramics but struggles with porcelain.imo. The bars flex if the porcelain is too thick.

Just given buybrandtools a call. This weekend they have 10% off all Rubi products it seems. This may make the TS50 plus within my budget so may go down that route.

Thought you may want to know....

My local CTD store were a little more expensive but I may bite the bullet and get it from there anyway so I get to meet them etc and start a dialogue with the manager.

Guys, thought I would just use this forum to big up Buybrandtools. Ordered online on Saturday and the cutter was delivered this morning before 10am. Excellent service.

    Hope this is acceptable?
