I keep a roll of linning paper in the van, roll some out put the tile on top and cut round that and use that as a guage against any curved objects

I've seen solder, paper, cardboard etc being used , but heres just an idea that I found useful and cheap as chips.
I have been looking to find one of these on the net for some time. Anybody any idea where I could get one?

Definitely on ebay, I think they also use them for profiling horse saddles, Stationary shops should have them as well I think that's where I got my one all those many moons ago.

Get them from staionairy shops, bendy rulers.
Most have them, mainly used for plotting charts etc etc.

lol yes only thing I seem to remember from my days doing technical drawing. And how the flexicurve was the business for drawing up the curves of the roof shell once you had plotted it out.

Re: Something useful for profiling around Sanitary ware ?
Search for flexible curve in ebay, there are ones cheaper and a different range of sizes. Regarding Major & Minor, from what I can remember ( please don't hold me to this as it has been a long time since secondary school days) they relate to the Major and Minor elliptical axis, the major ones (curves) tend to be stifer and longer while the minor tend to be more flexible and shorter (allowing for drawing tighter more precise curves). It's all down to the lead core and the 2 steel inserts within the plastic.
And be gentle with them the lead core can break and are not to be used for whipping some poor apprentice :-)

Re: Something useful for profiling around Sanitary ware ?
Yep, Lino all the way for me. I always have 5 or 6 bits in the van ready for the next job (in fact got one this week). Just make sure you keep them flat otherwise they can be a bugger to work with.
