as a new tiler did i buy a good cutter???

Don't know, never used one, but Montolit are similar and excellent.

Keep looking at the monty on Dave tt site looks good for mosaic

Have a small sigma.....bought in 1990 .............stille going strong with original cutting wheel.........use it for small tiles.

Have a large monty as well......excellent bit of kit.........versatile......srating to get it out of the van more than my Rubi 700...........it's good for small and large format tiles

I have a couple of cutters from the sigma range & can't fault them, think you've made a good choice M8.

i got a sigma 2b3 and although it cuts well im really strugling with it.
not being able to see the wheel is the main issue.

You can't see the wheel on the monties either, but you kind of get used to it, and learn to compensate. Two small "tricks" I learned early on are to align any marks with the "breaking edge" between the spring loaded pads, as well as tilting my head slightly to align the tile with the bar the breaker runs on. Quite easy after a few times, and it becomes second nature.

Wait a sec- What do you mean you can't see the wheel on the Sigma 2B3? I had a similar sigma, and while the wheel wasn't as visible as on, say, a Rubi, it is visible.

thats my main issue with this cutter,i can get used to the rest of the differences between rubi and sigma.
i wonder if the taller you are the more of an issue the visual is with the sigma.
i do try to use the slider rail as a site line,but i aint cracked it yet,i need more practice on jobs with no skirtings,when im doing an accurate cut job ie skirts on ive gone back to wait for it ................................the genesis.
but i will eventually go over to sigma monty type cutters as they are superior now to rubi or maybe the new rubis will keeps there followers.

Hehe, ic. Well, you'll get used to not seeing the scoring wheel. It just takes a little time. If you think you tallness is negatively affecting your work with the cutter, you could, of course, get a portable work table. That should level the playing field a bit
How tall are you anyways, if you think that's affecting how you view the tool? I'm 185cm, or about 6 feet, so I'm not exactly short either.

I only use sigma pull cutters and swear by them. Very fast and accurate once you're used to them. I find Rubi cutters to be a bit slow and awkward.
