Fein multimaster
Excellent all round tool. If you are tiling a floor you can use a flush cut blade to trim the bottom of the architrave to save a tricky cut. Great for plunge cutting applications. The carbide blade is excellent for grout removal.

Re: Fein multimaster
Since Bosch came out with a DIY version I think it is likely you will see the price of Fein blades come down pretty soon

Re: Fein multimaster
Hope so cos i love my fein but the blades are a ridiculous price, went through £70 worth of blades on 1 job there was lots of arcitrives to cut and low and behold nails in them all even the metal/wood blades didn`t last long.but again i love it use it just as much in both my trades.

Hi, I agree , but I would advise anybody buying one to go for the 400w or v model

Re: Fein multimaster
I have no problems with the Multimaster 250w regarding power and as for blades, they can be got for £7 each if you buy 10.

been thinking of getting one, but price of blades has put me off, I put things down and lose them! (where's my kids, they were here a minute ago

Re: Fein multimaster
Well i have had mine a while now and havent lost anything. It comes with a good case and a couple of compartments with lids so nothing gets lost.
I must be lucky because i have only got through one blade so far and i use it all the time. ( yes i hit a nail also)

Re: Fein multimaster
can you get an actual tile cutting blade Sir, thinking of plunge cuts in porc, rather than using angle grinder/wet saw?
-
-
Re: Fein multimaster
I dont think so and i wouldnt even if they did one.
I use mine for grout removal, cleaning old adhesive when replacing the odd tile, cutting architraves and cornices from kitchen units.
Anything else i feel is better handled with other tools.

Re: Fein multimaster
One way to make the blades last longer is to use the variable speed. Rather than go at it hammer and tongs...use a slower speed and take a bit more time. I'm always browsing a well known auction site and have picked up a few bargains. I've often wondered about making up some of my own blades.....I must put my ming to it soon and see what results I come up with......need access to a spot welder.

Trade Tile now sell a Diamond coated version of the grout removal blade. This may cut tiles but I don't know.
David - have you tried this?

I had the cordless one. Power was fine but battery life was too short and it only came with one battery. You'd need to buy a couple of spare batteries to make it really useful. The battery also gave up the ghost a month out of warranty. I swapped back to a corded model.

I'm a plumbing and heating engineer and reckon to go through one blade on a complete heating system install. Well worth the cost when you consider how much time it has saved me.

Isn't that the supercut rather than the multimaster. It's quite a bit dearer than the multimaster and as Sir ramic has said I've never found the multimaster to struggle. It also doesn't benefit from the new blade clamping system like the multimaster.

Re: Fein multimaster
Hi Mike, Yes it is the Supercut. I do have an old Multimaster, still works, but for my needs I find the Supercut better. The newer multimaster looks great, with the new Blade system, more suited for the Carpenter/Cabinet Maker maybe?Anyway, very usefull what ever model you have!

Yes in a way, they will fit on and tighten up, but could move a little.. I have a reamer that fits on my drill, enlarges the hole on the blade a little then i have a good quallity 3mm file to file 4 stars in them, you may think this is a little ott but in the long run its worth it, with thier carbide grout blades i have done several regrouts and used it for removing excess plaster and hard set addhesives etc, did a regrout with the fein 1 and it was worn out 1/2 way through..........
