Rubi tr600-opinions
Hi
Buying my first cutter and looking for some opinions and advice as to which is the best all round tile cutter for my circumstances.
Recently finished a tiling coarse and was using the Genesis range with the breaker bar on the cutting handle. This is the only cutter i've ever used, seemed fine, twin bars, flexability with cuts but having read plenty of the threads it seems Rubi is by far the prefered make.So would it make sense to purchase a Rubi tr600.Hoping for any thoughts constructive or critical about the tr600.Also overall does it have the edge over the Ruby ts range which has the differant breaking system.
At the moment have a toilet, kitchen splash backs and a conservatory floor lined up for tiling.Would the tr 600 be ideal for this?
Just starting out and have alot of exspense with buying other equipment
so cannot buy at the moment 2 or 3 tile cutters which would make sense.
Any thoughts or opinions appreciated.
Cheers
Kev

I've never used one but have overall been happy with the rubi cutters I have got, There so many cutters out there now it can be confusing for a newbie

I am also a newbie and have been instructed to get the ts 60 plus, is this the right cutter to be getting for my 1st time or should i get something else, i've been using the ts 40, 50 & 60 plus on my course and all seem very nice tools to work with.
I have this on a shopping cart ready to order from tradetiler sometime over the weekend so this would really be of great help to me, cheers.

Re: Rubi tr600-opinions
I have a Rubi pocket 40, which I use pretty much in kitchens 4x4 6x6 etc and for ceramic floor tiles.
I brought the TS 60 plus for the harder and larger porcelain tiles. I haven't got used to the breaking system, and this cutter stays in my attic at the moment.
Last year I brought a TX 900 and I can't fault it (apart from the weight)
this will cut most tiles upto 900mm even some of the toughest porcelain tiles.
If you are used to the breaking mech of the TS range, then stick to that for now, maybe a TS 60 plus, which would do most size of tile for a relative newby.
happy tiling.

hiya mate.i personally would recommend tx700n, it's a cracker, lots of tiles now are 600+ and I'm increasingly seeing larger tiles coming in (I'm having to get a tx1200n) so I would go for tx700n as you can always cut small format tiles on it but if you get a small cutter you're gonna be restricted to kitchens imo

Re: Rubi tr600-opinions
There's nothing wrong with Rubi cutters, though I'd personally recommend Montolit or Sigma cutters, in that order. IMO, they're sturdier, faster, lighter, and the quality of cut is superb.
I personally use Montolit, and my main cutter is a Montolit Masterpiuma 63P2. Excellent cutter in the same price range as the TR600.
And oh, if you do decide to get a Rubi, I'd deffo recommend the TR over the TS, as it's more versatile than the TS. The TX is probably too expensive if you're just starting out.

Re: Rubi tr600-opinions
if ya just starting out mate, maybe, just maybe the 60plus is a bit big and heavy for you to be lugging around from job to job,if ya only doing kitchens and bathroom splashbacks at the minute, why not get the 40 plus. The jobs you have lined up could all be completed with the 40 plus i assume (assuming the tiles you are cutting are 400mm or less, then with the money from those jobs buy the bigger cutter

I've been looking at the cutters today and the tx700n looks real good, probably gonna go with that and a standard ts40 for my small jobs like kitchens and that, i've seen the ts40 on ebay £125 and you get 4 spare rubi scoring wheels and a couple of diamond cutting drill bits and hole cutters.
Don't really wanna be lugging the tx700n around with me just for lil jobs hence the reason for the ts40 aswell.

Re: Rubi tr600-opinions
A better combo..would be the tr400s and the tx700n.......or the tx40+ instead of the tr400s....but deffo the tx700n...then you will never need another dry cutter imo....unless ypu get out bigger than 700mm..then if i come across this then i know i can hire a tx1200n from CTD..

Re: Rubi tr600-opinions
Thanks for all the replies, everyone very useful and most appreciated.
Listening to the views on the forum i've yet to hear a bad reveiw on the tx700 and with it having the same breaking system as the tr range I'm leaning towards combining it with the tr400.
Was not at the moment my plan to buy 2 but the thought of struggling or the uncertainty on a job while starting out in tiling is edging me towards investing.
Does anybody know of any deals on the 2 cutters at the moment?
Cheers all.

Has anybody any opinions on the mixers, theres the rubi 10,sparky 1050 and a Makita 1150 at screwfix. The sparky seems to have had some good reports on the forum and i've used it once, not to much said about the rubi and makita to compare.
