There are loads of ready made stands on the market that would be just the job for you mate, also in bathrooms you can use a board over the bath, to double as a worktop.

I used to carry a lightweight aluminium Stool/stepladder with me. Then I got some ply about 36" X 36" and screwed some batten framework to it underneath so the seat part fitted in exactly. It was very light and it meant I had a stepladder, seat and workbench all in one

Knee problems are a common complaint.
I pack a knee board around which has a nice foamy pad on it and I also have many kinds of knee pads which have accumulated.
Don't forget to use joint supplement or at least eat lots of beef tendon soup.
If your knees go then so does your paycheck.

Manufactured from hardened anodised aluminium with anti-slip foot caps. Locking safety arms prevent pinching and the folding legs enable easy storage and transportation.
