Fein - Firestarter!
Ok, had my new fein multimaster for about a week now. Very impressed, its already been more than useful, doing jobs that would have otherwise been really hard to do. However, I keep coming across a minor problem - using the bi-metal blade on different woods, it seems to create a lot of heat and smouldering. Almost to the point that I can imagine creating a fire - is that normal? Am I pushing it too hard?
Paul
PS - is the bi-metal the best blade for wood (I know its good if the wood may have nails - but what about pure wood)? Would another type of blade be better?

Re: Fein - Firestarter!
I found the same when I used it the first time. Just don't push so hard and just remove the blade from the cut every now and again to allow it to cool a little.

Re: Fein - Firestarter!
i have found this to be a problem too i often have a damp sponge to cool the blades down the problem is the blades blunt so quickly instead of cutting the wood it tends to grind it out creating the heat

Re - stealing my thread :P
If you click the link in gary's signature, it takes you back to the tilers forum. If you click the link in the post's, it goes to his site. Not sure why?

Re: Fein - Firestarter!
i agree give it a chance to cool down , does sound like the blade is blunt . price of new blades is the only downside to this great piece of kit be lost without it

Re: Fein - Firestarter!
Ehh, the bi metal blade is for wood and if there is a possibility of nails.
Use the wood only blade for wood only...if that makes sense. As the guys say dont push too hard but it whistles through wood of all sorts, only smoulders once blunt, then its time for a change.
TradeTiler.Ltd Fein Multimaster
You should be using the 65mm E cut blade on the link above for wood!
