Karl Dahm Silicone Shapers in the
Tiling Tools at TilersForums;
ive just got a set of these and going to be using them for the first time tomorow, anyone else use them? am i right in thinking i just apply ... -
Karl Dahm Silicone Shapers

ive just got a set of these and going to be using them for the first time tomorow, anyone else use them? am i right in thinking i just apply the silicone, spray with soapy water, spray the shapers with some and them smooth the joint and bobs your uncle, nice silicone joint?

will do, its only a small bathroom floor ayway, shouldnt take too long, one thing tho.. what can i use to ensure the surfaces are fully clean? ive had problems before where the silicone hasnt stuck in some areas, well it stuck well to my fingers

where on earth can i get them/ iu got some decorators degreasing wipes from b&q but dont know if they will suffice or not

same sort of thing........B&Q do them anyway....most decor sections or shops sell them.....

i got a similar tool but from screwfix, helped my siliconing no end!!!!

used mine for the first time about two weeks ago m8, really love em, my siliconing looks in my eyes a1 now!!!

on the ones i have i found if you apply slightly(and i mean slightly lol) more silicone than you need it works a treat

pmsl... Finish is everything m8, a bad silicone job can look cr@p can't it.... I still use masking tape too when i use the tool, just a personal preference....

hmm is that masking tape instead of the soapy water spray or aswell as?

I use masking tape as well. Still spray your smoothing tool with washing up liquid but you don't need to to spray the silicone, although it does help for the final smoothing once you've removed the tape.

Both the Screwfix and Karl Dahm silicone tools work a treat, just a shame that the Karl Dahm ones have the instructions in german.

i bought set,tried it out but i only sparringly put silicone on so tools didn't really touch it!

Bought these a year ago only used them once and Ive not used them since ive opted for a profiling tool from B&Q £1.50 and it gives great results but any profilig tool you must remember to use soapy water with it otherwise you will have a git of a job getting the excess silicon off
