Re: Review: Rubi TI-66S Tile Cutter | | As I have said in other posts I have recently got one of these, the push version. Having used it for about three weeks now I am very happy with it.
There are a few niggles though.
Transportation requires the straight bar across the front of the cutter be removed and placed so it runs along the length of the cutter. When in transport this does nothing but bang and rattle and is really annoying, I have resorted to putting some foam pipe insulation around it in transport to stop this. I have also noticed that the bar that connects to the straight bar that you adjust and tighten fir various size tiles is not overly accurate and square tiles do not sit against this bar very well.
If a case is to be released, which is a must for this cutter in my opinion as I carry alot of tools and I loose a lot of load space as I have to leave enough room to ensure nothing falls on or scratches the cutter in transport, those of us that have the cutter already should be able to get this case for free, or at the very least, heavily discounted.
But over all I love this, it has no problem scoring and braking any tile, I am cutting 60cm square porcelain on my current job and the cut is clean and the break is straight. Just be sure to practice on a tile you are using to determine the amount of pressure needed to break it, as it varies a lot. You will be surprised at what little force is required to totally crush a smaller ceramic tile! |
