I suppose you can use it for that, but it's more effective, and the finish will be neater, if you do it with a wet saw.
If you still want to try, you use it by repeatedly scoring the backface of the tile, effectively cutting out the shape. No breaking needed. But bear in mind that it takes alot longer than using a tile saw or an angle grinder. And you cutter will by quite dusty afterwards, I imagine
It's more a DIY option than anything else.
