I'd be interesting in seeing that in action. Are you going the Tile and Stone Show?

I think what makes it better is that it has 3 spring loaded beds which allows the breaking force to disperse evenly across the tile as opposed to a flat rigid bed , and also that it has a breaking capacity of 2000 kg . I haven't found a manual cutter that has as much as this.
If any one else has i would be interested to know .
The montolit has spring loaded beds too. Also the breaking mechanism is a 1 piece unit with the handle that you can hit with a hammer if you need to "shock" the tile. I have no idea what the actual force that can be generated to break the tiles but it must be considerable if you hit it with a hammer.
Just had a look on a website called Kwik Split Tile Cutters , the company Kwik Split is the uk distributer for Montolit. Is it the Master Montolit range you have mate.

Ive got the same cutter when my ts60 fails i use my super pro money well spent.
I have two machines in this range and they seem to do the job .however the gauge is a bit naff it comes loose and is not as easy to set up as the rubi. when cutting 600x600 polished tiles it still tails of cuts when trying to remove 20mm cuts. you have to first cut a 150mm then cut the 20mm of that as the weight of the 600mm just breaks the cuts in the wrong place. I want to try a brevetti montolit but havent got round to it. is it true you can cut terracotta on these machines? in my experience all machines have good points and crap designs built in them.
That's where the Tx range have an advantage then...clear line of sight and great for harder tiles.....when cutting tiles for paterns etc ..you need to cut accurately...that is the advantage rubi cutters have over these type of cutters..
I have the TX700n and it breaks anything i put in it...apart from a new highy glazed porcelenato CTD have brought out....and no amount of breaking power etc will crack these babies.....its just down to the design of the tile i guess.....
