Default Review: Rubi ND180 BL electric tile cutter..

I have been using the new electric tile cutter from Rubi....

I found it very light it weight and can come with a carrying box...

The cutter has water containment tray underneath and is easy to access..

I also combined the rubi CPC2 blade with the ND180 BL and it has no vibration like some cutters can.....

This cutter combined with the CPC2 blade is pefect for porcelain tiles...

It also has a removable guard....simply just untighten the 2 retaining screws and it slips straight out....

This makes it perfect for doing plunge cuts for sockets etc......

This cutter also has a tilting table maiking ideal for mitreing tiles...

So if you are looking for a tile cutter that is a good price range then i would highly recommend this cutter..The Rubi ND180 BL......

so it gets a thumbs up from me......

    Nice one RUBI.......

If you contact tradetiler he will be better to give a guide price....

they retail at about Ł90 with no box and spare blade...and you can get it with the box you also get 2 standard blades if you buy it with the box.....but the cpc2 is extra.....but well worth it.....

Hi Dave cutter sounds pretty good from your review.
    One question,
Was there any chips out of the cut edge or does it cut the tile cleanly? I only ask because my first cutter the contractor does seem to leave a rough chipped edge after cutting that u couldnt really use for example with trim around a window as youd see the rough edge next to the trim.

    Thanks

If you buy the CPC2 blade then there is no chipping......you can buy the cutter with one blade and no box for around Ł90.....if you get it with the box you get 2 standard blades extra pennies and the rubi CPC2 is extra on top.....

To check out what it will cost with the cpc2 you can contact dave as i said.....the machine it's self was quiete and smooth to use and the CPC2 makes it damn good machine combo...

Had mine about 2 years, Where I store my tools there's an engineer next door who said there's a bit of slack in my bearings (the nd 200 were talking about here) but said that it could be the way it's been engineered

No sorry - I hear plenty of motor recon places can change the bearing reasonably cheaply

Thanks for the review - I need a new small cutter anytime soon and I have 2 questions: Does the lack of a fully enclosed tray mean it sprays a bit/ a lot underneath and is the guard as easy to remove for plunge cuts as you make out?

    Cheers!

I didn't notice any excessive water spray.....and yes the guard comes off very easy...2 screws .. quarter turn each and the guard slides out..and back in and re-tighten...

    Is it though??

Yes it's Rubi and yes that gets you a super dooper gaurantee (not sure what plasplugs gaurantee is..) BUT.... is it better??

Has anyone got a Plasplugs Master machine that could comment?

I am thinking of a new small wet cutter and have looked at both the Plasplugs Master and the Rubi 180BL and can't make my mind up - B&Q hasthe plasplugs one in for 80quid

I've got a large Rubi bridge saw and not had much bother but the 180BL just looks like a cheapo machine with a rubi sticker on.....
