What amazes me I have been tiling for 30 years
NVQ hmmmmm
done commerical work from 3000m2 floors to swimming pools to stone bathrooms to splashbacks archways and nearly all pattern work possible and I was lucky because I was taught by good tilers. I looked into passing on my information to as many people as possible but was told I had to go back to college and be assessed by someone with 5 to 10 years experience to see if I knew what I was doing.
Well let me give you some advice always read as much as possible with all materials used.
Make sure you learn how to prep walls and floors correctly.
Understand all tiles are very rarely square so make sure you allow joint size to match that problem.
Learn about movement in floors and walls make sure they are stable and rigid
Mark rooms out floors and walls with a marking stick easy to use.
Never trust anyone with the information they give you.
Learn about drawings and how to use scale ruler.
Become a member of the BSI as the information is updated every year and it will tell you everything you need to know.
Lastly learn from someone thats been tiling for a long time as with college they teach you how to tile the right way not how get over a problem. I am not saying college is a bad thing just saying you need hands on experience with problems.
Hope this helps as I have never been out of work and never advertised what does that say!
Regards
Shaun
