Northumberland college has won goverment funding for its experienced worker practical assessment ( EWPA) courses through the train to gain initiative.
Tilers applying for EWPA which provides the
NVQ 2 qaulification required to hold a
CSCS card, are now eligible for up to £500 to cover the costs of the course if they meet the necessary guidlines.
The scheme is run through the learning and skills council.
Northumberland college hopes that this will encourage more tilers in the area to apply for their
NVQ 2 through EWPA.
Those with five years experiance have been given
CSCS cards with the provision that they obtain relevant
NVQ qaulifications within three years.
And with more building sites allowing entry only to
CSCS card holders, concern is growing over the disappointing application rates..
