Frogeye Tiling folds
Hi
Not folding due to lack of work, but medical issues.
Was a fire officer for too many years to remember but had to leave for medical reasons following major incident.
I decided to retrain as a tiler but I find that I cant hack the dust. My skin reacts badly to it as does my chest and the thought of wearing full cp suits and ba whilst tiling is a no no. It wasn't a major issue on the course as it was winter, freezing and in a large area, but in a small bathroom and in this heat............
So a few grand on the PTS course and tools, not wasted but spent and I am back to square one.
Dan can you change my moniker to regular contributer please
Best of luck to everyone

Re: Frogeye Tiling folds
Frogeye, thanks for all your contributions to the community, both questions and answers.
I'll keep your tag for the time being, as ex-tilers can have a drink too you know. Though if you're not around for some time I'll shift it to regular then.
I suppose most trades wouldn't help with your situation then? Electrical / plumbing ever took your fancy?

Re: Frogeye Tiling folds
Many thanks to all on the site
I don't think I posted my news for sympathy, just the need to tell someone. Two days of glowing like a light bulb and coughing made me rethink what I am doing. Health comes first.
I always had my doubts about the dust, but apart form the episode when they demonstrated the acrylic grout and I had to make a sharp exit all seemed well. It was cold in that factory unit and the bays were open so dust wasn't an issue. Been cooped up in a narrow bathroom with the worlds smallest window was a different matter. I will post some pics of the before and almost after. May be I have done the tiling industry a favour ho ho ( don't answer that please)
Thanks for the offer of allowing me to lurk - this has proved to be a very valuable site - there are some knowledgeable people out there. Are there any plans to include a general diy section? Seems to be loads of peeps asking these questions again and again. Now anyone want to know how to strip repair and wear a BA set?, Guide line searching techniques?
best of luck

Exactly
I have seen some utter howlers with guidelines, both during training and at incidents. Frightening. Stick to tiling.
