Default How long is a quote valid for?

We all know what its like - you do the visit, prepare the quote, send it off and then nothing for weeks. All of a sudden three months down the line a phone call wanting a start asap at the price quoted. With fuel, taxes, etc all changing rapidly how long do you keep a quote valid before telling the customer you'll need to requote?

I always put 30 days on my quotes
Although if its a decent job then i'd do it months down the line as long as you're making a decent amount

I put 6 months on my estimates, but I think I'll change it to 30 days. I have rung customers up after about 2 weeks of me giving them an estimate to ask whether or not I have won the job. If I was unsuccessful then I ask what quote they did accept.

I never quote, always estimate, if you quote thats the price you have to do the job for even if you find problems, but if you estimate you can alter the price if you find a problem. And i do 30 days from date estimated

In Germany qoutes are valid 30 days (normal) up to 60 days (sometimes), depending on the amount of work that the quote is designed for. 60 days are taken for bigger jobs and if the possibility exists, that the customer is e.g. in hospital / foreign country / the costumer is not 1 person but a group.
