i think that price is spot on mate, could of even upped it a little. once you are fully up to speed you will find that you can knock that out in two days. but I always allow an extra one just incase. We have to charge what we are worth boys, doing work on the cheap doesnt do any of us any favours in the long run.

i think your price is bang on there if you have been tiling for a few years id would think about upping the price if you explain the price to them im sure they would see it from your point a view plus tax, insurance etc other things to take into consideration i the are not happy at your price dont do it

Hi NW tiler

I would say your overpricing a little imho

Facts are you have nice straight walls no sanitary except shower and bath and it's 16m2 so on your pricing it works out at about £28m2 (give or take)including materials.
So say it cost's max £50 pound for materials thats still over £20m2 ,now i've been in the game for many years and for that sort of job £20m2 would be the max i would charge for labour and just before anyone say's anything i have never been and priced a job that i have'nt got,and that includes massive restraunt'supermarkets e.t.c.

Just out of intrest why is a 16m2 job going to take 3 days in a straight foward bathroom?

I priced a kitchen splash back today 4sqm, 2 power sockets and one window, i was recommended by a tile shop to the customer i quoted £300...yes and got the job. Then a mate of mine another tiler quoted a 4 sqm splash back 3 power sockets and one window £140 the guy said its o much as he had a quote of £70 inc materials. But his was out of the local paper. Im in the buisness to make money not just a wage.

I thought it would take 3 days as the wall tiling would take two on its own. Day to tile and 1/2 a day to grout leaving 1/2 a day in case of problems.

You say you've always got a job that you've priced, maybe because you're so cheap?

The more I read the replies from other tilers, the more I think the price was about right. I've had no phone call fro the customer so I suppose he has gone for someone cheaper.

Don't forget it's not all about pricing, as long as the price is about right, it will get you the job, if you sell yourself to the customer. Make the customer feel like you are the right person for the job. Don't forget first impressions count, good manners, a positive approach and knowledge are key....

SPEED MEANS NOTHING WITHOUT QUALITY....

some customers would haggle even if you offered to pay them to do the job. dont be a busy fool.
had a few jobs where customer has gone for a cheaper quote and then paid to have tiles removed and job redone. obviously costing more because of removal of tiles lol

i think 2 and bit to 2 1/2 days is a good estimate for open flat walls no pots, no window and a 5m2 floor even with a bit of floor prep

i think we should all go round and measure up for a final quote

Hi I agree with Robbo, if you portray yourself correctly and the customer likes you you can virtually name your price ( within reason ) If I am fitting a bathroom I usually allow 35 sq mtr and I have not lost a job yet (famous last words), thats partly because I am not the fastest. Cheers Dean

another thing to remember is,

you could get 3 people with 3 different prices but you could come across as the one who appears the most sincere and trustworthy!! being good at selling your self is about not just having the printed t-shirts or the flashy websites, its about the customer buying into your integrity or as darren from NETT says, people buying people.

so, be professional, be knowledgable, be a good salesman/closer but be PASSIONATE AND SINCERE because it dosent matter what part of the country you come from, people like nice sincere people, its human nature and you dont need any book to teach you that

ALL tilers have different speeds! THINK...... do you want to rush a job & make mistakes or would you like to do a GOOD job, in the time it takes YOU to do it?
