Tile onto vinyl floor?

Just removed some floor tiles which had been laid on top of some vinyl floor tiles. The ceramic tiles were fine on top, no movement or cracks in the grout. The customer said they had been down for about 4 years. The customer has taken up the vinyl flooring underneath and taken it back to the original concrete floor, under my guidance.

I've got another job next week, 25 m2, which is covered by a similar vinyl type tile. Is it ok to tile onto the top of this? It appears to be stuck down very well, no bumps or movement.

It can be tiled on if secure.........just wash down with a degreaser and then prime with bal bond sbr (neat) and tile within 24hrs of priming...........I would use a modified adhesive as well.........

it is good advice to leave them alone if they are well fixed some of the old vinyl tiles were manufactured with asbestos as were a number of building products including artex,be careful when fitting ufh on them as most are fitted with bitumenous adhesive this boils when the heating is switched on and the floor will delaminate
