GOOD POST .but more importantlythan this is the quality of your work must speak for itself, once you have got the "SALE "as you call it the customer has to be delighted with what you have done this will ensure repeat custom from themselves their friends and family, be realistic not many of the new tilers coming through are going to be an overnight sucess but with time if your work is good and if you promote yourself properly you will be sucessful .good luck to any new boys coming in it can be a tough life as a tiler but i still love it even after 20 years

Hi all, Maybe its different in NI but, I spent all day yesterday calling with tile shops, conservatory manufactors etc, and they are all saying the same thing.... no business... One of Belfast's biggest tile shops has laid off 4 staff another has closed and one quite large tile shop says that it only has enough work for 1 tiler !!! When I told them that I had 1.5 weeks worth of work lined up they said I was busy. Sorry to be dome and gloom.

I too come from a sales background, and get about 95-99% of all jobs that I quote for, but there's just no tiles being bought

When your self employed you have to go with the good times and the bad times unfortunatly, so dont waste your money, you have to work hard to get it, try and build up your bank account and if it goes quiet just get yourself on holiday and cheer yourself up, the credit crunch is affecting every business not just tiling so we all will just have to ride the storm but after every storm the sunshine always comes out. Stick at it lads, keep up the quality and customer service and things will be ok
