Default thinking about a van

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone can give me some pointers on what type of van i should be looking at getting .I have a very limited budget and was wondering how much i could get a good runaround for .

Cars and such isn't really my area of expertise, but the by far most common van among trade people over here, is the VW caddy. It's very very durable, reliable, and fuel efficient. I have no idea what they go for in the UK, but I saw the following thread some time ago:

98 (R) Polo (6K) Caddy Van 1.9 SD pictures now included.

good ol' ford escort van for £1000......great little van costs next to nothing to repair as spares are in every junk yard.......or the escort estate.............think about it!!!!

so true fekin.........but a recon engine for a ford escort is £350 fitted (in london).........and if all you have is £1000 to spend, can you name a better motor?.......
