Has anyone used tiles that have been stored outside for 5 yrs? The tiles in question are 500mm x 300mm porcelain floor tiles . I just wonder after this amount of time will water / frost etc have damaged them enough to loose thier strength as with a ceramic tile???

    Any input would be great

    Cheers Dave

A tile will last for yrs and yrs........the only thing that happens to tiles and this is only the glazed ones, is that the glazing crazes thus causing a weakness of the tile face. So when you score it and try to break it , it will most likely try and follow one of the hair line cracks......apart from that i can't see any reason why they should not be OK...........

Porcelain tiles are marketed as being frost and moisture resistant, otherwise you wouldn't be using them outdoors.
