Tiling a porch

Hi Guys

I'm tiling my porch this weekend and would like to know what adhesive you'd recommend?

Its going onto chipboard - which i've secured so no more movement
my only worry is that in winter - the floor is extremely cold and in summer extremely hot
Its only 2 square metres

I'm next to Topps and CTD and various other independents so any advice much appreciated

I would have used backerboard or even ply and not chipboard.

Flexi adhesive and flexi grout.

Chipboard was already down
Was in two minds whether to remove it or not - think i'll replace it now

Whats under the chipboard, floorboards ?

Backerboard is good and can use only 6mm if floorboards are secured well so height isn't much of an issue.
Scew down every 300mm and use a flexi rapidset and flexi grout and it will be fine.

I cant understand why they've done it but under the chipboard its concrete
The boards have been glued down onto concrete??
Question is now - will i have to take up the chipboard cos it looks like a nightmare to get up!

Lets not get confused here. When posters say don't tile onto chipboard, they are talking about movement in the floor...mainly. Chipboard floors are usually suspended floors so they bounce with changes of weight. Overplying is to make the floor more rigid which is better for tiling. The other problem with chipboard is if it gets wet it can breakdown if constantly in contact with water.

As your chipboard appears to be very securly set onto a concrete base there is no reason why you could not tile straight onto it with an appropriate adhesive and adequate precautions to stop moisture getting in.

As you are next to CTD, get yourself some Ardex P51 primer and Ardex-flex 7001 and use that, and flexy grout.

Just double checked the floor with the "glass of water" trick and there's still very slight movement
I was just gonna plug it where the movement is directly thru to the concrete

Grumpy - whats the reasoning behind the chipboard onto concrete?
I dont know why they've done it unless its purely to raise the height of the porch?

Possibly to get an even flat surface to tile onto.
