Default can u tile onto lining paper?

Hi pepole,
just done my first quote 14 m2 bathroom.

I know this is will usally be the case was wondering is it quite straight forward to remove them? and if not what is the suggested alternatives? cheers again

Andy:ninja:[/quote]I used to tile onto lining paper in kitchen showrooms, because the tiles were constantly being replaced, and it stopped the chipboard being damaged on removal. In customers house it must be removed. Regards the radiator, many a time I would loosen the nuts, lift it up and swing it down flat then tighten nuts up,( provided that there is enough pipe movement for you ) you can then tile around the brackets and grout, then swing rad back into position without re- plumbing.....Gaz

Yep what Gaz says althoough i do tend to tell the customer to remove the rads these days just in case leaks start later and i get the blame.
As for the lining paper i used to do the same when tiling B&Q displays in their stores.

Personally i wouldnt try Gaz`s tip if its microbore piping...you only have to look at that at its leaking.

I wont remove radiators, toilets basins etc as my insurance only covers me for tiling. check your policy before doing any plumbing and make sure your covered if you remove anything.

I certainly would not remove the radiator, always advise the customer to have it removed before starting the job,the same with sinks and toilets unless they are already removed.

Hi Andy, DON'T touch rads, you are walking into trouble. See the insurance thread and you'll see I pay 5 times more than the regular tilers just to cover myself for the plumbing side. One woman paid me over 70 quid last year because her husband kept trying to take rads off himself

Spoke to a heating engineer, a mate of mine some rad valves are so old that once your've undone the nut (wivers come to mind) then try to tighten they won't seal and a leak will follow.
