Default Tile over/onto old vinyl tiles???

Hi I've got a kitchen floor job coming up and they have full vinyl down over old (and I mean 40 years!) vinyl tiles, these are stuck down really well and I'm planning on leaving them down if anyone and confirm that the adhesive will bond with them. Will they need to be primed to increase bonding or do they need to be ripped up?
    The floor is concrete under.
    Cheers for any help
    Dave

As with any floor tiling job, always worth getting back down to basics to find out how good the substrate is.....Gaz

    Hi,

If they`re a real pig to get up then i believe you can lay over them after cleaning them with sugar soap and then priming

    Hi there.
Asked a similar question last week and found out via a call to BAL helpline that you can go over the top of these type of tiles as long as they are WELL FIXED. Then coat them with BAL Bond (not primer) and use a flexi adhesive. Hope it goes well (and that it's not the job I was after!!)

BAL recommend BAL Bond Sbr...and it is a primer as well.......

And it should be tiled on within 24hrs of priming.......
