Default Dont undervalue yr skill and time

im very suprised that alot of you guys are prepared to work and quote for a few hrs work time.
go see job /send quote, drive to job, park.unload, setup, do job, cleanup(takes longer than you ever thought lol) tools back to van, send invoice. should be halfday minimum!you need to keep pricing constant, and consistant, already fighting the Eastern europeans, dont need own guys driving prices down.

A problem, is a new challenge

I do agree but if i have little work or no work then anything is better than nothing.
Putting a half days money in for a job which will take an hour or so may not be acceptable to the client. Seeing as you have already gone to the job and measured up and priced you may as well do the job. I find that this attitude can lead to bigger jobs from them and recomendations. It all adds up in the end.
If i were busy then i would explain that to the client and say i could only do the job as and when i can find time.
If you dont take the money then someone else will while you are sitting at home staring at the phone. i would rather earn something rather than nothing.

I understand what your saying Jacko but Jo public are in general a bunch of morons.
I turned up at someones house to quote and I could see they had a leak so I suggested they get a plumber to check it out so they wouldn't have to take up the bathroom floor I was gonna lay in a few days.I gave them the number of a good plumber I use,he came checked it out and said that the leak was a bad seal around the bath, the customer got him to check under floorboards and check all pipes(good idea). All checked everything fine, sent invoice.
The invoice was for £40,2 hours labour. The customer phoned up why do I have to pay for 2 hours when you were only here 1 hour and 20 mins, plumber says I had to travel there and back(traffic is horrendous in our town)and I don't charge by the minute. The customer says your address is on your card and I only think it would take 15 mins each way .(it would probably take 30 mins each wat due to the traffic)
The plumber says just pay me an hour and a half then.(told me he couldn't be arsed to argue,I'd have told him to get stuffed)

Tiled there bathroom and on the last day a bad leak was flooding the kitchen, can you call your mate the plumber.I said he would come out straight for me usually but had already told me he wasn't willing to do anymore work for them again.

The leak caused alot of damage What goes around comes around!

I only do "half day" jobs when I'm passing.
You don't get "a drink" added to the job price and they're only hassle anyway.

If it's not 3 to 4 days work then it's gonna cost you.

half a day generally means a full day out of my diary anyway. How many jobs only take 2 hours? If your talking about going back to finish off or grout this is usually priced into the job.
