HI With all this talk about female tile forums , I thought I would just add a few comments. My wife used to work for me before we had our first child, in capacity of grouter/ sealer for stone floors I lay and expert floor restorer . This was her choice not mine as she wanted to be hands on and involved in the business and possibly look at what the latest designs were in houses I work in!!! Everything was fine when with my guys but unfortunately when she did a job by herself, I used to get quite a number of complaints from ladies who were at home at the time. Why is this? Their complaints were virtually all unfounded when I would have to go and see them. Maybe it is a power thing or guilt that a lady is cleaning the floor they could have looked after themselves quite adequately if they had given a bit more time to their housework or more likely given the correct maintainer to their housekeepers!!. Maybe my male floor cleaners are far superior in their work. I dont think so. There was never any problem when I was there and we would talk about what needed to be done and in fact my wife would be leading the conversation about work method/expctations etcc. My wife incidentally is from Vietnam, where women and men have fought side by side in many a war and even now, when we were there last month I still saw ladies mixing sand/cement by hand for the male tilers. Seems like they have equality when it suits them over there!! So I do feel for the ladies starting out because there seems to be an element of distrust from their own gender and issues to overcome that males do not face for the most part. This may account for losing some jobs but hopefully by the same token it may help when they get a client who believes in fair play. I would say for myself that I would have no hestitation employing a lady of equal professional ability. But I really dont see why the ladies or men for that matter are suggesting having a men and ladies tiling forum. We are all in the same trade and one can choose whether or not one wishes to read or contribute to any thread from either sex. The written content on this site pales against what youll get on the ground. The ladies know this and it isnt going to change that much just for their benefit. I love this forum..... I love having chats with the lads but its nice to know there is an area to go and have "female" chats and in any case get to know which names are the female members. I will always use all three areas though. You lot are very valuable allies! A very interesting post there johnny. I'm beginning to wonder if thats why I loose a lot of my quotes... because they just don't trust me as a tradesperson. A prospect I find heartbreaking. | ||||||||||

On aserious note Sibz i hope work picks up for u if it was down to me wud like to c every one have work spread equally but isn't that simple I APPEAL in CAPITAL letters to any tiler in Telford who is a member on the forum Send some work OUR SIBZ way get her as they say on the tiling ladder | ||||||||||
