Directions as recommended by BAL........ MASTIC ASPHALT BASES: clean water.• Check that mastic asphalt is suitably sound (without brittleness, softening. etc.) with adequate cohesive strength, with a natural float finish and laid on a firm rigid base. • Ensure that surface is sufficiently regular to suit bedding depths of adhesive. • Clean thoroughly to remove surface dirt using warm water and a suitable detergent. Remove all detergent residues with and if it is a smooth shiny finished asphalt then yes prime.....  | ||

Also if it is a shiny surface ryan..you could use a slurry coat for stronger adhesion............  | ||
