| tiler shops | | the nearest tile shops to me have their own fixers, only topps locally doesn't and they are useless. so i go to the next nearest topps as its better staff & discount but i haven't had one job from topps yet, so how do you get round the problem of the local tile shops not getting you work. every customer so far has been
from my advertising elsewhere.

Just Because Your Local Tile Shop Has Recommended People , This Doesnt Mean This Is Lost Cause.
If You Have Decided This Shop Is Your Best Bet, Drop In Often As Poss On Pretence Of Needing Some Spacers /grout Etcc.
Make Conversation But Dont Be Too Pushy And Definitely Dont Say You Havenet Any Work.
Talk The Tile Talk If You Can And Get Them Interested In Possibly Recommending You If Their Usual Tilers Are Booked Up.
If They Like The Sound And Look Of You They Will Eventually Give You A Lead But I Can Guarantee It Will Be A Job The Others Dont Want For Some Reason.
Nows Your Chance To Show Tile Shop Your Worth To Them.
Get Some Pics Before And Sfter If A Pig Of Job, Dont Complain Just Produce The Goods.
If Client Is Happy Ask Tile Shop To Call Them And See How Job Went.
Thats The Start , Never Let The Shop Down, Phone Client Day You Get Lead And Give Quote Next Day.
You Would Not Believe How Sloppy And Slack Tilers Get When Theyve Got Their Foot In The Door .
Shops Want To Sell Tiles Not Hear Of Tilers They Recommend Failing To Produce On Multiple Fronts.
Shops Are Doing Recommended Tilers A Favour And This Is Often Forgotten. Should Be Two Way Traffic .
They Get You Work And You Show Off Their Products In Best Way Possible .
Do All This And Youll Be Near The Top Of Their List In A Few Years .
Ive Done This With 3 Or 4 Top Stone Companies And The Dividends Always Pay Off Long Term.

| Re: tiler shops | | I have a tile shop near me which i had to pick some tiles up from for a customer, and they asked me why i don't buy materials from them, i replied you dont put work my way i dont buy materials from you, oh they said is that how it works now they put work my way i buy materials from them....simple thats what you need to tell these shops they need you as much as you need them. |

| Re: tiler shops | | I've only got the odd job from the guys at topps even though I get most of my materials from them,I like all the staff and we all get on great but I think the majority of the work goes to one of the guys that works there.Told me he'd quit but I saw him loading up his 4+4 on his day off.
The best way to get lots of work in is to get a job at topps then you can take most of the jobs and do them on your day off

| Re: tiler shops | | the local shops actually supply and fix(own company tilers), i only use the shops for addy and passing on discount on tiles.
so topps and the next nearerst tile shop are going to think im squatting there.
spacers tomorrow, new bucket friday, new margin trowel saturday, their give me the jobs to get rid of me.

| Re: tiler shops | | Good points by some, in my limited experience I have placed cards in all the shops and not a single quote from a card pick up. in fact topps had removed my card the last time I went in. So now it is word of mouth, card drops and advertising. Topps cwill be lucky if I buy a sponge. Business comes my way I get the adi from you, have they not learnt that one yet ? | | |

And it's appreciated Brian,seriously m8.
All joking aside,I found out today that 2 tilers I have gave literally thousands of pounds of work to, buy inferior materials at another shop to save a couple of quid:mad2: I'm absolutely ****ing furious! One of their cards has gone in the bin:lol:
Seriously I don't want to offend any tilers on here, but loyalty works both ways:thumbsup:
I am now restructuring my discount scheme,in the way that regular buyers will get maximum discount on materials, bathroom suites etc and tiles...that applies to you brian:thumbsup:
**** the take take takers in life:hang: :73: :91:
