Default tile on tile

Evnin all, when tiling on tile what is the best ady 2 use, what would be best 2 clean the old tiles first????? cheers all any advice would be great

clean the tiles with sugar soap.. and tile with a flexi cement based adhesive.....
Also worth bearing in mind the extra weight you are adding to the existing tiling...check all is sound before tiling...if in doubt rip them off and start a fresh.....

As dave said if in doubt start a fresh as this may be the only way you can insure all is sound, afterall you don't know what the previous persons used for the installation, for all you know they could be stuck on with snot and toothpaste and thats the only thing thats holding your tiles on and relying on somebody elses work can com back and bite you on the backside. And also check to make sure that they haven't already been tiled over previously as weight could deffanitley be an issue.

the area to tile on tile is only a slash back around a bath 3 tiles high, so the weight issue shouldnt be a prob, i have given the tiles a good knock and they seem pretty sound and all fixed, no hollow noise.

Yes i can be "arsed" to knock them of, customer didnt want them taken of, just had walls painted with wooden boarder put on top so they didnt want any damage,

also doing her shower for which i will be removing the old tile, the walls are plaster board so will probly need replaceing, she only wants the bath tiled so it looks the same as shower area. she never uses the bath only the shower and she lives on her own.
