Default Batterns

Where do you all get your batterns and which wood do you use. Personally I use MDF cut at 4cm strips of 9mm. MDF is straight but is hard to drive a nail through so i pre drill all of my pieces. I buy from B&Q, which means you must buy the whole sheet of MDF so I gert around 10 batterns and 1 larger piece as they cant cut so low. It costs me around £6.50 for this, just wondering what others use...........just waiting for the usual "what are Batterns question", yes I know some people dont use them!!!!

one of the st things you lean when tiling (battern out ) level can not go round corners and the second rule of fix when fixing tiles, Ialso use a level hence the level becomes your battern ,

Seriously I tend not to use battons as I work from floor level up using my datum line as a guide that way you don't have to contain slippage when tiling down to floor level.

I sometimes get out my laser and draw the line for the height of the bottom tiles then just carry on tiling, this is when I'm not doing the floor or I'm worried about drilling into pipes etc.
