Hot and cold water pipes
My bathroom job... What can I do about the hot and cold water pipes that run from the floor boards up the wall and are meant to attach to the sink? (Which has been removed). They only start touching the wall about half way down and I could tile to this point if I gently bend them away but at about 8 inches from the floor they're on the wall with no moving them.
Cheers.

Re: Hot and cold water pipes
I guess your only option is to access them below the floor level and renew them to suit.

Re: Hot and cold water pipes
If removing and replacing the pipes from below the floor isn't an option then tile upto the pipes and I'd silicone the cuts to seal them.

Re: Hot and cold water pipes
If you cant redo them from under floor level, or chase them into the wall, tile upto them and either box them in or cover them with a trunking or pipe snap covers.

Re: Hot and cold water pipes
cut the pipes under the floor and alter to suit, failing that,2 other options,
1,box pipes in
2,fix tiles around the pipes, obviously keeping to your lines

Re: Hot and cold water pipes
Sorry to resurrect an old thread but the photos here are just what I want to do. I need to run pipes to a rad and a feed to the loo along a wall, my thought was to chase the wall out (like the photo) and (using) speedfit plastic pipe/connections run the feeds through the wall. I would end up with 3 elbows within the wall (one on each pipe to exit from the wall)
I'm wondering how the gap that's chased is filled? Do you just ply over it to keep the cavity?
I would also be concerned about having joints in the wall, but presumably you could leave the gap where the joint is and try and tile straight over? Worst comes to worst you would be able to hook out a few tiles and gain access.
Any thoughts?

Re: Hot and cold water pipes
Usualy a bit of bonding plaster to fill the gaps where the pipes are.

Re: Hot and cold water pipes
Thats very informative, thank you. I have decided not to chase into the wall but will instead use chrome pipe as its only a short run. I will however have to bring myself some tails out for the shower so your post is very helpful, thank you.

Re: Hot and cold water pipes
You will need to file off the chrome if you are using push fit fittings as the grab rings wint grab the shiney chrome surface!

I have decided not to chase into the wall
No problem just make sure you dont regret anything later on.
Preperation is the key and sometimes a bit of mess now can reap rewards with the finish later...

Hmm that does look good! I'm in two minds! Will see how I feel about it when I get back there today. Might change my mind again!

You can get those chrome elbows pictured with a ballofix isolator built into them too. These remove the need for a seperate one if you need to have one
