| laying out issue... | | I have been asked to tile a living room floor and kitchen floor and the client wants the tile to be layed in adiamond formation.
This is my first major job and i haven't tiled like this before.. Do i just lay out like i normally would and rotate the tile? or is there anything else to take into account?
Thanks for any help....

Because if you are, and Im not missing something from your post then any form of tiling will be diamond if you look at it from the right angle.
Me, I'd just start laying the same as normal, centering the room, then working from one diagonal to the other

Yes that is it.. so when you walk into the room you are looking at the point of the tile first...
So if i lay out as normal and lay the tiles at an ange that makes them square...

As I said before, all tiling can be view as diamond, just depends on where you look at it from. | Cheers for the assistance

| Re: laying out issue... | | so Fekin, just so's I'm understanding you right, are you saying you would lay your first row of diamonds point to point in line with the wall in front and behind you or would you work diaganally across the room and lay your tiles straight? | | |

Nice pic pete..shows how to square off properly...it also might be worth advising the customer to put a half tile effect border around the rooms perimeter and then cut the 45dg diamond to this..it looks better...creates a picture frame effect...but its up to the customer really....

Point to point, no, flat edge to flat edge yes, like normal. | I think that would make more sense and almost certainly be easier. I suppose with diamond pattern I always worry about where the tiles meet the walls. its easier to see if the walls or the tiling isn't straight.
