fireplace tiling

hi there. can anybody help me out please. im going to be tiling a fireplace next week and well errr im a bit stumped! its the whole thing.where do i start?

Well first thing is to choose wether you want to use tiles or granite (what I like more at fireplaces). Marble is possible but sensitive.

i have done loads of these. were the work is concerned they can be a bit tricky but i find if you take surround of if there is one tile the wall part first then the base always starting in the center and always try to use full tiles even if it means making base bigger (sand & cement). if not possible start at center again working your way out will give you even cuts (same size)and always miter cut edegs and corners far better finish. oh and put a good price in cuz if you do a good job on it you can be sure you will do more a lot more and after the first they become a doddle. hmm there could be a gap in the market hear as i have never seen a tiler advertise this

thanks smokie.so to clear up,i start on wall(the bit were the fire sits) pull the fire out. Start in centre above fire. Do i use a baton? as there is gap where fire sits. Or do i start at bottom(not hearth) either side of fire.

And use flexi adhesive and grout.

where you start depends on the tile size.. equal cuts on all three sides.....
mesure it out.....check twice cut once.....good luck
